What is Lot size?

Lot size is the volume of a forex trade. Standard, mini, and micro lots scale how much each pip is worth.

Lot size is how large a forex position is. A standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency, a mini lot is 10,000, and a micro lot is 1,000. Brokers may also allow fractional lots.

Larger lots amplify both profit and loss per pip. Signal Providers on PipAlert do not set your lot size for you; Subscribers choose size based on their account risk rules and the Signal's stop distance.

Position sizing ties lot size to dollar risk: risk amount divided by (stop-loss pips times pip value per standard lot). The risk calculator applies that formula.
