What is Spread?

Spread is the gap between bid and ask. It is a trading cost that can widen around news and affect stop-loss risk.

Spread is the difference between bid and ask prices. Brokers quote two prices; you typically buy at the ask and sell at the bid. Wider spreads raise the cost of entering and exiting quickly.

During major Economic Events, spreads can widen. Signal timing around the Economic Calendar matters: a tight stop may be more likely to be hit when spreads expand.

PipAlert does not set your broker's spread. When you follow a Signal, check your broker's live spread against the Signal's stop distance before you enter.
